Rose Bisanar Bowden was born on June 17, 1921 in the small town of Machpelah, in Lincoln County, N.C. She was married to Jim Thompson Bowden for 22 years and together they raised four children, Becky Nemeth, Patricia Bowden, Jim Bowden and Robert Bowden. She is the proud grandmother of four and great grandmother of five. She spent her first seventeen years on a working family farm that depended on the food and livestock produced on that farm to survive. Early on she knew that she wanted to attend college and that the farm life was not her future. She earned a scholarship to Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C. and graduated with a degree in what was then referred to as “hospital records.” Her first job was in Alabama as the assistant to the hospital administrator and chief of staff. There she began a long and successful career working in the administrative side of medical system. She is fiercely independent, hard working, and accomplished and we welcome Rose to Ninety Over Ninety.
