Darrell “Bill” Brown Williams

Bill interviewed our founder Rob Sumner for the Gaston Gazette this week (click here). We turned the tables and interviewed him.  Bill and Rob then switch rolls with Bill asking Rob questions about Ninety Over Ninety.

Darrell Brown “Bill” Williams was born in the small town of Faith, N.C. on August 27, 1925. He was part of a large family of four brothers and two sisters. He is married to Betty Williams and during their sixty-five year marriage they have raised five children, Ben, Tom, Judy, Beth and Sally. They are the proud grandparents of seven and will soon welcome their first great grandchild. Bill is a graduate of Duke University where he excelled as a member of the baseball team. He has spent his entire career in the newspaper business, most recently as editor of the Gaston Gazette for over twenty years. He has interviewed thousands over the course of his long and distinguished career and has been recognized throughout the State of N.C. for his writing. Bill still pens a weekly column in the Gazette at ninety years old.
